Can technology make motorbiking safer?

Riding a motorbike can be fun, but also very dangerous. In Europe alone, nearly 18 percent of all road accident fatalities are motorbike riders. Now the European Union wants to do something about these figures and is funding research into new technology which could make motorbike riding safer. It includes collision detectors, speed warnings and even software which will tell you if you’re approaching a corner too fast. Much of the development and testing is being done near Birmingham, from where I make this report for Deutsche Welle Radio:
