More than half of UK people on benefits now depend on food aid

This week, a group of mothers went on hunger strike outside parliament in London to highlight the level of food poverty in the UK. More than half of people who depend on state benefits now say they cannot afford enough food. Luckily, thousands of volunteers work with food banks and social enterprises to help – although they hope that one day they will no longer be needed. This is my report for Inside Europe on Deutsche Welle:
