Unpopular populist: SD’s leader Jimmie Åkesson is used to demonstrations at his party’s rallies

A political earthquake in Sweden overshadowed the fact that the country will be switching from a centre-right to a centre-left government. The far-right, anti-immigration Swedish Democrats more than doubled their support from four years ago, when they first entered parliament, and secured 13 percent of the vote. So what now for Sweden, the country with Europe’s most generous immigration policies? This is my report for Inside Europe on Deutsche Welle Radio.
