EU lawmakers “ignore scientific advice” on sustainable fisheries

IMG_3577British fans of fish and chips could celebrate last year, when North Sea cod stocks bounced back enough to again be labelled as sustainable in that country. Yet as whole, Europe’s fisheries are far from healthy. Campaigners and scientists accuse EU politicians of each year giving in to industry lobbyists and setting unsustainable quotas.
